Mark Wimer, COO

Mark Wimer is a tenured senior healthcare executive who brings to Welbrook more than 30 years of experience in the management of inpatient services, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living communities. Mark spent eight years as District Vice President of Kindred Healthcare managing skilled nursing facilities across the Northwest. Prior to that, Mark was CEO of Sun Healthcare Group where he grew the company from 31 skilled nursing facilities to more than 300 nationwide. Before that he was President of Franciscan Eldercare, a not-for-profit corporation that acquires and constructs skilled nursing and assisted living facilities across the U.S. He also spent four years with The Hillhaven Corporation supervising multiple skilled nursing acquisitions. Mark has been involved in more than $500M of healthcare acquisitions and has served as a Board member for several senior healthcare companies. He earned a Master’s degree in Health Management from St. Louis University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Idaho.

Matt Rasband, Principal

Matt is an accomplished senior health professional with an extensive background in healthcare project development, management and operations. Over the past 18 years, Matt has developed, operated and led all aspects of skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities across the United States from fiscal accountability and staffing, to marketing and regulatory compliance. His broad range of experience was built through a dynamic senior leadership background at companies such as Encompass Health Services where he served as President, Kindred Healthcare as the Regional Director of Facilities, and Healthtrac where he also served as President. Matt’s focus on profitability and quality of service continue to contribute to the success of Welbrook Senior Living.


Douglas Brawn, Principal

Doug is an experienced real estate industry professional who has entitled, developed, marketed and managed a broad range of products with a special focus in the development and re-development of office and medical properties. Prior to becoming a partner with Health Care Building Investments and a founding Principal of Welbrook Senior Living, Doug was Principal of CMD Real Estate Group, Vice-President at Colliers International, and Principal at DV Ventures. He has the keen ability to use his extensive market knowledge and project experience to successfully move projects through key steps in the development process in a timely and cost effective manner. Doug’s hands-on management approach and proven leadership abilities assures investors and partners in Welbrook Senior Living, the best possible results. Doug earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Government from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME.

Ken Magargee, Principal

Ken is a dynamic healthcare construction management professional with more than 30 years of broad and well-rounded industry experience. His established reputation of diligence in completing multi-million dollar projects, surpassing goals, and delivering within time and budget specifications is a key asset to Welbrook Senior Living. Prior to becoming a partner with Health Care Building Investment and a founding principal of Welbrook Senior Living, Ken spent 23 years as a Senior Project Manager with Thorpe Construction, and 10 years with Orange Plumbing in positions of increasing responsibility including General Manager. Ken is adept in all aspects of construction development spanning site acquisition, design development, estimating and cost efficiency, project team management, and regulatory requirement adherence. Ken, a licensed General and Plumbing Contractor, is a skillful negotiator of project agreements, a motivational leader, and key contributor to the success of every Welbrook community.


Vincent Valdez MD, Principal

Vincent Valdez, MD is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management. He received his medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and performed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Southern California. Dr. Valdez continued to practice at USC as the director of pain management from 1987 to 1994 and directed the anesthesiology residency training program 1992 to 1994. A long standing commitment to his patients and the community, in which he lives, provided the perfect segue into the real estate domain. Dr. Valdez expanded his scope into healthcare real estate development and investments with Douglas Brawn, Principal at Welbrook Senior Living. His accomplished work in the medical community as well as real estate, make Dr. Valdez an invaluable contributor to Welbrook Senior Living where he provides direction from a well rounded perspective and continues to improve resident and patient lives every day.

Mark Guth, Vice President of Business Development

Mark Guth is a strategic healthcare business development leader with 25+ years’ experience in opening, ongoing operation, and the growth of post-acute health care facilities. His experience includes residential care as well as skilled nursing. He has worked in large / small, public and private healthcare organizations; in both startup and mature growth business cycles. He has single facility operations, and multi – facility sales management expertise. Most recently, Mr. Guth was the Director of Sales and Marketing for Preferred Care Partners Management Group, a privately held skilled nursing firm with 112 facilities across 12 states. Immediately prior, he was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Diversicare, a $300 million, publicly traded skilled nursing company. In both these positions, Mark directed a large sales team, recruited top talent, managed sales, marketing and communications; implemented a program to obtain insurance/ managed care contracts for care reimbursement and was instrumental in physician relationship development. Prior to Diversicare, he was responsible for directing the Sales and Marketing function at Kindred Healthcare for the skilled nursing Western Division with $550 million annual gross revenue in 61 facilities across 11 states. He earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University.


Robin Young, Vice President of Clinical Operations

Robin Young is a well-respected and highly experienced clinical operator in post-acute services. Her 30+ years’ experience uniquely qualifies her to clinically lead Welbrook’s program teams. Robin’s background includes significant roles from Director of Nursing services managing the clinical operations of a skilled nursing facility to District Director of Clinical Services providing multi-facility oversight and direction. Robin has additional experience as a District Director of Case Management, responsible for multi-facility reimbursement for post-acute care and services. Robin has contributed to the growth of several leading companies in the post-acute space including Kindred Healthcare, Sun Healthcare and Hillhaven. Robin’s focus on high quality services coupled with a commitment to customer satisfaction is a primary contribution to Welbrook’s clinical success.
